Jan Hackaert was born in Amsterdam during the golden age of Dutch & Flemish painting. Known for his strong paintings of wildlife, hunts scenes and landscapes, Hackaert was a successful and respected artist in his native Holland, as well as in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. When he collaborated with Lingelbach, Berchem and Adriaen Van de Veld, he would often paint the classical landscapes and other artists would paint the figures or animals. Hackaert’s work is represented in museums across Europe, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Munich, Rome and St. Petersburg. For centuries, his art has held a strong following among connoisseurs of the Northern Classical tradition.
